Titans Ground Warhawks On Senior Night

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team defeated UW-Whitewater, 191.225-190.925, on Friday night (Feb. 23) at the Kolf Sports Center.

The Titans also celebrated the careers of their five graduating gymnasts; Kaylie Berens (Sr. • Golden, Colo.), Emily Buffington (Sr. • Huntersville, N.C.), Audrey Koester (Sr. • Saginaw, Mich.), Ella Wilson (Jr. • DeForest) and Anna Zoromski (Sr. • Wausau).

Buffington set the program all-around record for the third time of her career, scoring 38.875 points, 0.075 points higher than her previous mark. She recorded a 9.600 on the vault, a 9.775 on the uneven bars, a 9.700 on the balance beam and a career-best 9.800 on the floor exercise.

Oshkosh finished the night with event totals of 47.800 points on the vault, 47.150 points on the uneven bars, 47.675 points on the balance beam and 48.600 points on the floor exercise. The team won the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise titles.

Reanna McGibboney (So. • Chester Springs, Pa.) won the vault by totaling 9.750 points and Amaya McConkay (So. • Broken Arrow, Okla.) grabbed second with a 9.700. The Titans' third-highest scores with Buffington and Zoromski with 9.600 points each.

Buffington placed in the top spot on the uneven bars with a 9.775-point performance, followed by McGibboney in third with 9.625 points and Lydia Hayden (So. • Broomfield, Colo.) in fifth with 9.525 points.

UW-Oshkosh claimed first place on the balance beam, receiving a 9.700 from both Hayden and Buffington. Delaney Cienkus (Jr. • Plainfield, Ill.) was its next-highest finisher with 9.550 points for sixth place.

Cienkus broke the program record on the floor exercise, with a first-place score of 9.850 points, good for the top spot on the event. Buffington finished third with a 9.800 and McGibboney registered 9.775 points on her routine to take fourth.

The Titans will host UW-La Crosse and UW-Stout in their home first triangular meet since Jan. 17, 2020 on Thursday (Feb. 29) at 6 p.m.
