OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team split results at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Tennis Courts on Saturday (Sept. 7) as it hosted Ripon College and UW-La Crosse.
 
The Titans faced the Redhawks at 9 a.m. and won 7-0 before dropping a 0-7 score to the Eagles at noon.
 
In the doubles matches against Ripon, Olivia Pethan (So. • Oshkosh) and Alysa Pattee (Sr. • Waupun) won at No. 1 by a score of 6-2, Kayla Gibbs (So. • Muskego) and Brianna Owens (Fr. • Appleton) defeated their Redhawk opponents 6-3 and Courtney Carpenter (Jr. • Oshkosh) and Cate Gerl (So. • Joliet, Ill.) were victorious at No. 3 with a 6-3 score.
 
Gibbs' No. 2 singles matchup finished first as she took down Tia Endrizzi by scores of 6-0 and 6-2. Pethan finished second at No. 1 by taking a 6-1, 6-3 win over Josie Rondestvedt, followed by Olivia Nielsen (So. • Oshkosh) in the No. 6 flight by beating Isabella Engstrom 6-2 and 6-4. The No. 3 and No. 5 matchups finished next. In No. 3, Owens and Hadley Berendsen went 6-1 and 4-6 in the first two sets with Owens taking the third 10-7. Grace Brown (Fr. • Sugar Grove, Ill.) won over Allison Pavlovec 6-2 and 6-3 in the fifth flight of singles. The final match to wrap up was No. 4 which also went to an extra set. Vianna Dao (Fr. • Oshkosh) beat Chase Polyak 6-2 in the first set, dropped the second set 1-6 and went the distance in the extra set, eventually winning 15-13.
 
The Titans were then swept by UW-La Crosse. The top two doubles partners for the Titans remained the same with Pethan and Pattee at No. 1 (8-1), Gibbs and Owens at No. 2 (8-2). Brown played alongside Gerl in the No. 3 singles; the new partners lost 8-2. The flights finished in order.
 
Pethan played in the first singles flight again, falling to Tasha Bailey 6-3, 6-3. Pattee came in at the No. 2 singles and lost to Shelby Roth 6-2, 6-1. Gibbs, who lost 7-5, 6-0 to Lauren Lindow, moved down to the No. 3 singles spot. Owens, Dao and Brown also shifted down a flight to the fourth, fifth and sixth positions. Owens lost to Emma Heinert 6-0, 6-1, Dao fell to Maia Samuelsen 6-1, 6-0 and Brown dropped 6-0, 6-1 scores to Hannah Cady.
 
Oshkosh will play Wartburg College (Iowa) and Loras College (Iowa) next Saturday in Dubuque.
