WHITEWATER, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's soccer traveled to Whitewater on Wednesday (Oct. 22) to battle UW-Whitewater.
Ryley Meenk (Waukesha/Waukesha South) tied the match in the 70th minute, however a second goal handed the Warhawks a 2-1 win.

UW-Oshkosh (5-5-5, 1-3-1 WIAC) outshot Whitewater (7-5-5, 2-2-1 WIAC) 13 to 10 and held a 9-5 edge in shots on goal. Both teams earned three corner kicks.

While
Ella Duckmann (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) led Oshkosh with four shots on goal, Meenk scored the Titans' goal with her first of two attempts between the posts. Starters
Addyson Edwards (Appleton/Appleton West),
Shannon Walsh (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West), and substitute
Hannah Huntley (Hudson/Hudson) rounded out UW-Oshkosh's shots on goal with one each.

Mallory Kerhin (Green Bay/Green Bay Southwest) faced 10 total shots, saving three of the Warhawks' five shots on goal, just her fourth match this season allowing more than one goal.

Whitewater was on the attack early in the match and converted on its third shot of the match after Kerhin recorded two saves, giving the Warhawks an early 1-0 lead in the seventh minute.

Walsh recorded the first shot on goal for the Titans in the 21st minute, but it was saved by the Warhawks' goalkeeper.

The rest of the half was a stalemate, and Whitewater was in the lead after the first 45 minutes, 1-0.

Half two kicked off with
Gabby Born (Fond du Lac/Fond du Lac) taking a shot off the woodwork in the 50th minute.
Hannah Huntley (Hudson/Hudson) followed up with a shot of her own that was saved in the 52nd minute. Kerhin then got her third save in the 64th minute.

Duckmann later tried to bury a goal and again the Titans were thwarted by Whitewater.

The Titans broke through in the 70th minute when Meenk found the back of the net to equalize the score at 1-1. She tried for a brace when she took her second shot in the 80th minute, but it was saved.

Whitewater regained the lead in the 82nd minute, going up 2-1.

Edwards took what would have been the equalizing shot in the 85th minute and Duckmann in the 86th, but again the Warhawk keeper came up with the save. Duckmann had the Titans last shot on goal in the 89th minute.

The Titans are now 17-20 overall against the Warhawks with their last win coming in 2021.

The Titans are back in action at home on Saturday (Oct. 25) as they host the UW-La Crosse Eagles for their Play for a Cause Day. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
