WAUKESHA, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team improved to 3-1 after its win over Carroll University, 85-76, at Van Male Fieldhouse in Waukesha on Saturday night (Nov. 22).

The victory was the Titans' third straight win over the Pioneers dating back to a 67-51 win in Wisconsin Dells on December 30, 2012.

Brandon Beck (Rockton, Ill./Hillcrest Prep (Ariz.)) led the way for the Titans with 16 points, three rebounds, two steals, and one block in 16 minutes on the floor. Three other Titans scored in the double digits.

Logan Rindfleisch (Milwaukee/Wisconsin Lutheran), and
Aiden Hawkinson (Waupun/Waupun) had 12, 11, and 11 points, respectively.

Michael Metcalf-Grassman (Shawano/Waukesha/Shawano Community) made his return to the hardwood for the Titans after having his season cut short last year. In 19 minutes, Metcalf-Grassman recorded eight points, three blocks, three rebounds, and two assists.

Oshkosh shot 45 percent from the field (27-of-60) and 21.2 percent (7-of-33) from beyond the arc. Forty of the Titans' 85 points came from the bench, 33 were scored off turnovers, 36 were tallied in the paint, and fast breaks netted them 20. They also pulled down 35 rebounds. The Oshkosh defense was solid, forcing 24 turnovers with 15 steals.

Carroll kicked off the first half by jumping out to a 10-3 lead. Rindfleisch made two layups to cut the Pioneers' lead to five with 15:44 to go. Carroll maintained their lead by going up 16-9 over the next minute before Oshkosh climbed back within four (16-20) after threes from
Jonah Rindfleisch (Milwaukee/Wisconsin Lutheran) and Thomas with 11:36 left in the half. The Pioneers stretched their lead to 10 points after a 10-4 run with 7:36 to go. Oshkosh stormed back with a 10-0 run to tie the game at 30 with 4:13 left in the first half. Carroll by outscoring the Titans, 10-8, to head into the locker room with a two point, 40-38, lead.

Beck tied the game up at 40 to start the second half. Oshkosh then claimed a 47-40 edge after a Hawkinson three-pointer. Carroll produced a 7-0 run to tie it up at 47 before reclaiming the lead after a 10-7 run, with 10:11 to go in the contest. Oshkosh tied it again at 61 after a 7-4 run and jumped out to a 70-65 lead thanks to a 10-4 run capped off by a three from Beck. Oshkosh later stretched their lead to 10 points after a 9-4 run, eventually winning by nine.

Oshkosh is back on the hardwood on Tuesday (Nov. 25) as it travels to Madison to take on Edgewood University (0-3) at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
