OSHKOSH, Wis.-Â On Thursday (Feb. 27) the UW-Oshkosh gymnastics team hosted a quadrangular meet against UW-La Crosse, Winona State University (Minn.), and Greenville University (Ill.). The Titans won the meet with their highest score of the season and the second highest score in program history at 194.350 points.
The Titans, ranked second in the nation, broke two program records during their home finale. Oshkosh scored 48.850 on the balance beam for the first record of the night in the very first rotation. In the third rotation, the Titans broke their second program record, scoring a 48.725 on the vault. They rounded out their team score with a 48.475 on the uneven bars and 48.300 in the floor exercise.
In the Titans' record score on the vault, they also proceeded to sweep the top four individual places.
Averie Evans (Fr. • Fort Worth, Texas) led the way with a season high score of 9.850.
Amaya McConkay (Jr. • Broken Arrow, Okla.),
Mia Lucero (Sr. • Bolingbrook, Ill.), and
Reanna McGibboney (Jr. • Chester Springs, Pa.) all tied for second with matching scores of 9.750.
On the uneven bars,
Sam Zeilinger (Sr. • Wheaton, Ill.) was the top Titan, scoring 9.725 for second place. McGibboney and
Lydia Hayden (Jr. • Broomfield, Colo.) tied for fourth with 9.700 points, and Evans and McConkay tied for seventh at 9.675.
Hayden led the Titans on their record score on the balance beam, winning with 9.825.
Emma Steele (So. • Orange Country, Calif.) scored 9.800 points to tie for second.
Delaney Cienkus (Sr. • Plainfield, Ill.) finished in a tie for fourth with 9.775, and
Jay Ratkowski (So. • Franklin) and
Liz Romano (Sr. • Royersford, Pa.) tied for eighth with 9.725.
Aleah Radojevich (Jr. • Chicago, Ill.) and Cienkus claimed the top two spots in the floor exercise, with Radojevich winning with a score of 9.775. Cienkus was right behind her with a score of 9.750.
The Titans return next Saturday (Mar. 8), as they head to UW-La Crosse for the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional Championship. UW-Oshkosh looks to win its fifth consecutive and 19th overall league title and advance to earn a spot to compete for its four straight NCGA championship.
