SAUGET, Ill.- The UW-Oshkosh Baseball team traveled to Sauget, Ill. on Friday (Feb. 28) for its season opener to take on Webster University (Mo.). The Titans scored first, however four Gorlok runs in the middle of the game handed Webster the win.

As a team, the Titans (0-1) recorded nine hits including three doubles while Webster (2-3) had six hits of their own.

Jack McNamara (Jr. • La Grange, Ill.) went 2-for-4 on the day, including two doubles.
Nick Shiu (Sr. • Gurnee, Ill.) knocked in Oshkosh's RBI on 1-for-3.
Jake Surane (Grad. • Lincolnshire, Ill.) notched a double and
Carter Stebane (Sr. • Brillion) stole the Titans' first base of the season.

Oshkosh opened the scoring in the top of the first inning after McNamara hit a double before advancing to third on a wild pitch and scoring on a single by Shiu drove him in with a single.

Starting pitcher
Connor Brinkman (Sr. • New London) retired the Gorloks in order in the first two innings to hold Oshkosh's lead at 1-0.

Webster scored its first two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a pair of doubles. An inning later, the Gorloks added another pair of runs on a two-run home run.

Aaron Huibregtse (Sr. • Oostburg) relieved Brinkman in the seven inning and forced straight flyouts and a groundout. Brinkman, who was assigned the loss, threw 6.0 innings and allowed four runs on six hits and two walks with a pair of strikeouts.

The Titans put runners on second base in the eighth and second and third in the ninth but couldn't capitalize on the opportunity in either inning.

Parker Thompson (Jr. • Waukesha) threw the bottom of the eighth inning. He allowed and got through the inning without allowing a run.

The Titans are set to play North Park University (Ill.) on Saturday afternoon (March 1) at 1 p.m.
