STEVENS POINT, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh baseball won both of its games at UW-Stevens Point's Zimmerman Field on Saturday (April 26) by scores of 8-1 and 12-3.

The Titans (23-11, 14-8 WIAC) recorded 10 hits in each of the wins and submitted a clean sheet in the field against the Pointers' (15-18, 10-12 WIAC) 12 combined hits and a total of five errors on the day.

Connor Brinkman (New London/New London) (Sr. • New London) started on the mound for Oshkosh in the first game. He threw eight innings and struck out a season-high eight batters while allowing one run on three hits. He fanned three in the first inning and two in both the seventh and eighth frames.
Aaron Huibregtse (Oostburg/Oostburg) (Sr. • Oostburg) came in for the final inning, inducing a flyout, a lineout, and a groundout to sit the Pointers down in order.

At the plate,
Nick Shiu (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) (Sr. • Gurnee, Ill.) went 3-for-5 with a two-RBI double and a pair of two-RBI singles.
Jack McNamara (La Grange, Ill./Lyons) (Jr. • La Grange, Ill.) scored three runs on a 2-for-4 game with a walk and an RBI single.

The Titans scored their first runs of the day in the third inning of the first game.
Brenden Max (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) (Jr. • Libertyville, Ill.) and McNamara walked to put runners on first and second with Shiu coming up to bat. He knocked in both by smashing a first pitch double to right center.

Mason Kirchberg (DeForest/DeForest) (Sr. • DeForest), McNamara, and
Logan Schill (Pewaukee/Pewaukee) (So. • Pewaukee) all scored in the fourth inning to put Oshkosh up 5-0. All three were walked in order with two outs before Shiu sent Kirchberg and McNamara home with a single to left field and
Jake Surane (Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) (Grad. • Lincolnshire, Ill.) scored Schill on a single up the middle of the infield.

The scored remained 5-0 in Oshkosh's favor through the seventh-inning stretch and the Pointers' tallied their first game run on a solo home run in the bottom half of the inning.

UW-Oshkosh scored three more runs in the eighth inning to increase its edge to seven runs. Kirchberg reached first on a throwing error by the Pointers' third baseman and advanced to third during the play. He then ran home on McNamara's single down the right field line. Schill double in the following at-bat to put runners on second and third for Shiu, who scored both with a right field single. Oshkosh ended the inning up 8-1 and Brinkman and Huibregtse combined for three-up, three-down frames in the eighth and ninth innings to secure the win.

Connor Walters (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) (Jr. • Libertyville, Ill.) was the first of three Titans pitchers in the second game, throwing seven innings. He allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters.
Ryan Richter (Waukesha/Waukesha West) (Fr. • Waukesha) threw the eighth innings, striking out two against a run on two hits and
Nick Rector (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional) (Sr. • Sewell, N.J.) pitching the ninth, holding Stevens Point scoreless on a hit and a walk against a strikeout.

Owen Housinger (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Stevenson) (Jr. • Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) hit 4-for-5 in the nightcap with an RBI double, a three-run home run, and two runs. Schill,
Zach Taylor (Long Grove, Ill./Stevenson) (Grad. • Long Grove, Ill.),
Carter Stebane (Brillion/Brillion) (Sr. • Brillion), and Kirchberg also crossed home twice in the game. Four Titans stole a base in the contest and two were hit by three pitches.

Surane got the Titans on the board right away in the first inning, sending Schill home on a groundout.

In the top of the second, Oshkosh added another run. Stebane drew a leadoff walk and stole second before advancing to third when Housinger grounded out and scoring when Max singled up the middle.

The Titans got busy in the third inning, kicked off by a first pitch leadoff home run by Schill. Surane and Taylor got on base on a fielder's choice and a single before Housinger hit the second home run of the inning, making the score 6-0.

UW-Oshkosh claimed an 8-0 lead by the fourth inning on an RBI triple and an RBI groundout in the fourth inning and an RBI double in the fifth. The Pointers hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to get on the board.

Stebane drew a walk when Stevens Point changed pitchers at the start of the seventh inning and worked his way around the bases before scoring Oshkosh's 10th run of the game when Kirchberg again reached first on an error.

The Pointers reached home for the final time on Saturday in the eighth inning when they put a runner on first with a single before scoring on a double.

In the top of the ninth inning, Oshkosh added a pair of runs to its total when Kirchberg once again reached on an error, scoring Housinger, and McNamara sent Kirchberg home with a single.

The Titans wrap up their series with the Pointers on Sunday with games at noon and 3 p.m. before finishing their regular season at UW-Stout on May 2-3.
