OSHKOSH, Wis.-Â The UW-Oshkosh softball team completed its doubleheader sweep of UW-Platteville on Wednesday (April 30) at the UW-Oshkosh Softball Park.
The No. 18 nationally ranked Titans (32-6, 8-4 WIAC) won both games 3-0. The twinbill shutout was Oshkosh's second over the Pioneers (23-13, 6-6 WIAC) in as many years. In the first game, the Titans had nine hits to the Pioneers' one. In the second game, the Titans outhit the Pioneers 11-3. Platteville had an error in both games.
The first game was highlighted by a complete game shutout by
Brianna Bougie (Oshkosh/Oshkosh West). Bougie struck out six batters and only allowed one hit to move to 8-1 on the year. At the plate, both
Haylie Wittman (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) and
Morgan Rau (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) went 2-for-3. Wittman recorded a double, a triple, and an RBIÂ and Rau recorded a double and an RBI.
The Titans took the lead in the first game in the bottom of the fifth inning when
Cali Divito (Inverness, Ill./Fremd) scored on an RBI single from
Olivia Ullman (Denmark/Denmark).
Morgan Rau (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) drove in
Abby Garceau (Mishicot/Mishicot) on an RBI single later that inning. The Titans scored their third run in the sixth inning on an RBI double from Wittman, who drove in
Sarah Hammerton (Appleton/Appleton West).
Grace Nardi (Marquette, Mich./Negaunee) was on the mound for the Titans in the second game. Nardi pitched five innings, fanning out four against just three hits to move to 9-0 on the year. Bougie came back in for the save, pitching two innings and striking out one. This was her sixth save of the year. At the plate, Hammerton highlighted the Titans, going 3-for-3 with a solo home run, her second homer of the year. Ullman and Divito both went 2-for-3 at the plate to help the Titans secure the win.
Wittman scored the first run for the Titans in the bottom of the second on a fielder's choice from
Mary Kate Quaid (Aurora, Ill./Oswego East). In the bottom of the fourth, Hammerton put the Titans up 2-0 on her solo home run. The Titans' final run of the day came in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly from
Morgan Miller (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) which scored
Olivia Baugnet (De Pere/De Pere).
The Titans return on Sunday (May 4) as they take on UW-Eau Claire for their final two regular season games. The 2025 senior class will be recognized after the first game.
