OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team picked up a win in its home opener on Wednesday (September 10).

The Titans (2-1) defeated the Red Hawks of Ripon College (0-4) in a triumphant 7-0 victory.

The Titans' doubles teams all won their matches in dominant fashion. The No. 1 doubles team of
Mana Usui (Franklin/Franklin) and
Kayla Gibbs (Muskego/Muskego) won their match 6-2 against Ripon's Josie Griepentrog and Hadley Berendsen. The Titans No. 2 doubles team also won 6-2, with Oshkosh's
Olivia Pethan (Oshkosh/Fox Valley Lutheran) and
Courtney Carpenter (Oshkosh/Oshkosh West) taking down Jessi Griepentrog and Catherine Skoglund of the Red Hawks. Completing the doubles sweep,
Sarah Schaeffer (Rock Springs/Reedsburg) and
Jameson Gregory (Delavan/Big Foot) of the Titans No. 3 doubles team won their match in a final score of 6-1 against Allison Pavlovec Isabella Engstrom of Ripon.

The Titans continued strong into their singles matches, sweeping all six as well.
Olivia Pethan (Oshkosh/Fox Valley Lutheran) won her match 2-0 in the No. 1 singles match, defeating Ripon's Josie Rondestvedt 6-0 and 6-1. In the No. 2 singles match,
Mana Usui (Franklin/Franklin) defeated the Red Hawk's Hadley Berendsen 2-0, winning the sets 6-1 and 6-2.
Brianna Owens (Appleton/Kimberly) won her No. 3 singles match 2-0 as well, winning both sets 6-2 over Ripon's Jessi Griepentrog.

The Titans continued their winning streak into the No. 4 singles match, as Breanna Schultz defeated Ripon's Allison Pavlovec 2-0 as well, winning the sets 6-3 and 6-2. The Titans picked up another win in the No. 5 singles match, as
Sarah Schaeffer (Rock Springs/Reedsburg) took down Isabella Engstrom of Ripon 2-0. After winning a close 7-5 first set, Schaeffer dominated in the second set, winning 6-0. To round out the Titans' wins, Oshkosh's
Cate Gerl (Joliet, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) defeated Emily Bittinger of the Red Hawks, 2-0, in the No. 6 singles match. Gerl won the sets 6-4 and 4-1.

The Titans (2-1) look to continue their string of strong performances as they return this Saturday (September 13), and travel to face conference rival UW-La Crosse (1-0).
