Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Titans Score In Both Halves Of Win Over Bennies

Addyson Knoebel became the third freshman to score in the Titans' first six matches on Saturday when she netted her first collegiate goal in the third minute

OSHKOSH, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's soccer jumped on the scoreboard in the first three minutes of its second home match in two days and scored the game-winning goal in the 59th minute to defeat the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.), 2-1, at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on Sunday (Sept. 14).

The Titans (2-2-2) won their second-ever win over the Bennies (1-5-0); they won their first match, 2-1, in double overtime in Oshkosh on September 14, 2003.

Oshkosh shot a total of 15 times with eight shots going on goal. Two of Ella Duckmann's (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) four shots were on goal while Gabby Born (Fond du Lac/Fond du Lac) and Maris Heun (Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) put both of their shots on goal. Alexa Schorr (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) added a shot on goal in the 61st minute.

Mallory Kerhin (Green Bay/Green Bay Southwest) played in goal for all 90 minutes of the contest and saved seven of Saint Benedict's eight shots on goal.

The Bennies gave up the ball just after kickoff and Oshkosh passed down to CSB's half of the field. Belle Dehner (Cottage Grove/Monona Grove) shot high, and Ariana Gonalez shot left before the clock passed 1:30.

Shannon Walsh (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) passed a throw inbounds to Jaden LeRoy (Evansville/Evansville) who kicked the ball over to Addyson Knoebel (Appleton/Appleton West) inside the goal box, booting the ball past the Bennies' goalkeeper with her left foot to put UW-Oshkosh up by a goal at 2:12 for her first collegiate score.

Saint Benedict tied the score in the eighth minute on an unassisted goal by Addison Stephani.

Gabby Born (Fond du Lac/Fond du Lac) and Ella Duckmann (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) shot on goal in the 12th and 33rd minutes of the first half, however Saint Benedict's Anna Mollenhauser intervened both times. The teams headed into halftime tied, 1-1.

The Bennies followed a corner kick with a pair of early second half shots on goal by the 50th minute.

Duckmann took UW-Oshkosh's first two shots of the second half – an off-target shot at 52:09 and an on-goal shot at 56:30. Two minutes later, Walsh hit a cross to Born in the box and Born scored her first goal of the season, breaking the tie and tallying the go ahead goal.

The Titans shot on goal three more times in the match. Schorr put a shot in the bottom center at 60:45 and Heun shot on goal to the top at 74:16 and to the top right at 76:09.

The Titans head to Dubuque, Iowa for the third annual 151 Derby on Saturday (Sept. 20). UW-Oshkosh is 5-4-1 all time against the Spartans. Last season, the Titans and Dubuque tied, 0-0, at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on September 21.
