OSHKOSH, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's tennis extended its winning streak to five matches and posted its fourth straight 7-0 win on Friday (Sept. 26), defeating UW-Stout at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Tennis Courts.
The Titans (5-1, 1-1 WIAC) held the Blue Devils (2-6, 0-3 WIAC) scoreless for the third year in a row and won for the fourth consecutive year. Oshkosh earned the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles flights and won each of the six singles matches.
Olivia Pethan (Oshkosh/Fox Valley Lutheran) and
Courtney Carpenter (Oshkosh/Oshkosh West) moved to 6-1 on the season with a 6-0 win over Prajna Hosamane and Gretchen Murphy in the No. 1 doubles flight.
Mana Usui (Franklin/Franklin) and
Sarah Schaeffer (Rock Springs/Reedsburg) shutout Lindsay Leuzinger and Lexie Stein, 6-0, at No. 3 doubles after
Kayla Gibbs (Muskego/Muskego) and
Jameson Gregory (Delavan/Big Foot) were defeated, 6-4, in the No. 2 flight.
Pethan also opened the singles flights with a win, beating Hosamane, 6-1, 6-2, in the top flight. Usui posted a matching score against Asper Johnson at No. 2, followed by a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Leuzinger at No. 3.
Brianna Owens (Appleton/Kimberly) started the back half of the singles matches with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ashlyn Dellemann.
Bre Schultz (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) won her first set, 6-0, over Murphy and won 6-3 in her second at No. 5 singles.
Cate Gerl (Joliet, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) wrapped up the match in No. 6 singles, beating Stein, 6-4, 6-4.
The Titans return to the courts on Saturday, October 4 at 9 a.m., hosting UW-Eau Claire (2-1, 2-1 WIAC) at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Tennis Courts.
