DE PERE, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team took down the Green Knights of St. Norbert College in a 1-0 victory in De Pere on Monday night (Sept. 29).
The victory gives UW-Oshkosh (4-2-3) its second straight victory over St. Norbert (1-9-0) and extended its undefeated streak to four matches against the Green Knights with a 3-0-1 mark since 2022.
UW-Oshkosh's lone goal came off the head of
Ariana Gonzalez (Appleton/Appleton North) as she scored her third goal in two matches in the seventh minute of the contest.
The Titans attempted 25 shots with seven of on goal against the Green Knights' five shots with two on goal. Titan goalkeeper
Mallory Kerhin (Green Bay/Green Bay Southwest) saved both attempts on goal – one in the 42nd minute and the other in the 80th minute.
Oshkosh was on the attack early in the first half when
Olivia Bahr (Cedar Grove/Cedar Grove-Belgium) attempted a shot in the third minute. The Titans then regained possession which led to a shot from
Maris Heun (Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) that came off the woodwork to set up Gonzalez to head the ball past St. Norbert's goalkeeper in the seventh minute.
In the next six minutes, UW-Oshkosh attempted three shots by Gonzalez,
Ella Duckmann (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) and
Gabby Born (Fond du Lac/Fond du Lac). Gonzalez and Born put their shots on goal.
Oshkosh went on to attempt eight more shots in the half, including two on goal, however were unable to increase its lead.
The Titans who held the ball for a majority of the half, attempting 11 shots to St. Norbert's four and held a 2-1 edge in shots on goal. Duckmann took her second shot on goal in the 48th minute and
Addyson Edwards (Appleton/Appleton West) shot on goal in the 57th minute while Kerhin saved her second half shot at 79:45.
The Titans are back on the pitch on Saturday (Oct. 4) to cap a four-game road trip and open conference play, as they take on UW-Eau Claire (1-6-3) at 2 p.m. at the Blugolds' Simpson Field.
