Titans Cruise To 5-1 Victory Over Falcons

MEQUON, Wis.- Five different Titans accounted for a goal during UW-Oshkosh's 5-1 win over Concordia University Wisconsin at the Falcons' Fitting Field on Tuesday (Oct. 13).

The 4-goal win is the third of at least that many goals of the season for Oshkosh (6-4-3, 1-1-1 WIAC), following a 4-0 season-opening win over St. Norbert College on Sept. 1 and a 6-0 win over Benedictine University (Ill.) in its first road match of the year.

The Titans had not won over the Falcons (5-8, 4-3 NACC) by at least four goals since posting a 6-2 decision in Oshkosh on Oct. 8, 2009.

On the match, Oshkosh shot 22 times with 14 going on goal, while holding Concordia Wisconsin to 15 attempts (seven on goal). Both teams were awarded three corner kicks, and the Falcons held a 9-6 edge in saves.

Addie Wreath (Appleton/Appleton East) paced the Titans with four total shots, two of which were on goal, while she netted the third score of the match. She also recorded her fifth and sixth assists of the season.

Ariana Gonzalez (Appleton/Appleton North) and Jaden LeRoy (Evansville/Evansville) both shot three times with two on goal and a goal scored while Shannon Walsh (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) shot on goal with both of her tries and scored a goal. LeRoy's goal was her team-leading eighth of the season, tying former Titan Rylie Kaufmann's full-season mark for the most goals in a season since 2021.

Nadia Epshteyn (Cedarburg/Cedarburg) came off the bench and scored on her only shot of the day.

Maddie Daigle (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho/Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy), LeRoy and Walsh added assists in the contest.

Greta Steines (Eau Claire/Eau Claire Memorial) added two shots on goal for Oshkosh while Brooklyn Kaufman (Merrimac/Sauk Prairie), Kylie Morrey (Spring Green/River Valley) and Frankie Wojtas (Elgin, Ill./St. Edward Central Catholic) each put up one.

Larissa Likes (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) saved five shots on goal in the first half, bringing her goals against average down to 0.80 on the season. Jamaya Mariner (Green Bay/Green Bay East) recorded the Titans' sixth save of the contest in the second half and also decreased her goals against average despite allowing the Falcons' goal.

Concordia Wisconsin took the first shot of the game just 20 seconds after the opening kick, but couldn't place it on goal and the Titans marched downfield just four minutes later. LeRoy made her first shot, but it was saved and she followed it up with her goal 50 seconds later on an assist by Wreath.

Oshkosh kept the ball on the Falcons' half of the field for much of the rest of the match and added four off-target shots before Epshteyn took a long pass from midfield the distance to the back of the goal for a 2-0 edge in the 29th minute.

Likes made four of her five saves in the last 10 minutes of the opening period to retain the 2-goal lead headed into halftime.

Concordia Wisconsin tallied its lone goal of the match in the 52nd minute, catching Mariner out of the goal box.

Oshkosh responded just four minutes later. Walsh kicked the ball to Wreath from just inside Concordia Wisconsin territory, who sent the ball off the Falcon goalkeeper's left glove and into the net.

Walsh scored her first goal since Sept. 16, 2024, in the 60th minute when the Titans caught most of the Concordia Wisconsin defense on the wrong side of the field. Daigle passed out to Walsh on the right half of the pitch, who kicked the pass for a high-arcing score all the way to the bottom left corner of the goal to push the lead to 4-1.

The Titans nearly scored their fourth goal in the 57th minute when their corner kick landed in front of the goal and Wreath's attempt on goal beat the goalkeeper but was saved by a defender.

Oshkosh scored its final goal in the 60th minute. The Titan offense made good passes downfield and kept possession with two more that went for assists by Wreath and LeRoy. Wreath passed to LeRoy right in front of the goal and LeRoy sent the ball over to Gonzalez for an open goal on the right side.

The Titans return to J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on Saturday (Oct. 17) to host UW-Platteville (6-3-4, 2-0-1 WIAC) at 2 p.m. Oshkosh holds a 24-6-2 all-time record against the Pioneers and is riding a 16-match winning streak headed into Saturday.
