Titans Down Foresters In Nonconference Finale

Greta Steines scored the Titans' goal in the 47th minute

LAKE FOREST, Ill.- UW-Oshkosh women's soccer finished its nonconference slate for the 2026 season on Wednesday (Oct. 28) afternoon by defeating Lake Forest College (Ill.), 1-0, at the Foresters' Mohr Field.

The Titans (7-6-4, 1-3-2 WIAC) added to their 6-3-2 nonconference record this season on an early second-half goal by Greta Steines (Eau Claire/Eau Claire Memorial). Across 90 minutes, they outshot Lake Forest (13-2-2, 6-1-1 MWC) by a 16-10 margin that included a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.

The Foresters were awarded 10 corner kicks to the Titans' six and saved six shots on goal to three for Oshkosh's goalkeepers.

Ariana Gonzalez (Appleton/Appleton North) led the match with three shots and two shots on goal. Addyson Edwards (Appleton/Appleton West), Nadia Epshteyn (Cedarburg/Cedarburg), Steines, Marie Van Zeeland (Kimberly/Kimberly) and Laney Wiebel (Oshkosh/Oshkosh West) each recorded one shot on goal.

Larissa Likes (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) and Jamaya Mariner (Green Bay/Green Bay East) again split time in goal, recorded one save each, and earned their fourth combined shutout of the season.

The Titans claimed possession of the ball early in the contest and attempted four shots in the first nine minutes, two of which went on goal.

While Oshkosh's defense held the Foresters to just two shots in the opening half in the 20th and 45th minutes, Marie Van Zeeland (Kimberly/Kimberly) was the only other Titan to record an on-goal attempt, coming in the 42nd minute.

Steines scored almost immediately after the second half started, netting her first goal since Oct. 10, 2022, on an assist by Knoebel at 46:21. She nearly created a 2-0 advantage just three minutes later, however her shot bounced off the left woodwork.

Following a group of Lake Forest shots between the 52nd and 60th minutes, the defense locked down again and gave up just three more attempts down the stretch while Wiebel had Oshkosh's only on-goal attempt in the 63rd minute.

The Titans take on UW-River Falls (7-3-5, 0-2-4 WIAC) at the Falcons' Ramer Soccer Stadium at 2 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 31). With a win or a tie, they will compete in the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver's) starting on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
