PLATTEVILLE, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh men's track & field collected two event titles, three second-place medals and a third-place finish in the first day (Feb. 27) of the WIAC Indoor Championship hosted by UW-Platteville in the Williams Center.

The Titans sit in second place with 59 points after seven completed events, trailing only UW-La Crosse which has scored 118.

Dylan Doss (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) and
Tyran Bender (Bradley, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais Community) got the Titans started on the track, both placing in the 400-meter dash. Doss placed second overall and won his heat with a program-record time of 47.73 seconds. Bender was fourth at 48.42 seconds. Each of the top-four finishers in the event bested the previous facility record from 2018 and Doss and 400-meter dash champion Collin Conzemius from UW-La Crosse outpaced the previous meet record set by former Titan Ryan Powers in 2019.

Cameron Cullen (Kewaunee/Kewaunee) placed second in the 5,000 meter-run, running a 14:28.66.

In the Distance medley relay, the team of
Alex Peterson (Oconto Falls/Gillett),
Eli Kerner (Eagle River/Northland Pines),
Luke Beeksma (/) and
Xavier Lasee (North Fond du Lac/Horace Mann) placed sixth in a time of 10:27.28. Peterson ran the 1,200-meter leg, Kerner the 400-meter leg, Beeksma the 800-meter leg and Lasee the mile leg.

In the field, Isaiah Isom and
Kieran Maude (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) got the Titans started in the shot put. Isom threw 17.34 meters for the bronze medal and Maude took eighth place by a centimeter, throwing 16.13 meters.

Joshua Rivers (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) won the long jump title for the third indoor league championship in a row with a best distance of 7.91 meters, setting new facility and meet records in the process and extending his lead over the NCAA Division III field. His mark would also rank 12th in Division I and lead Division II. UW-Oshkosh has now won the last four league long jump titles – AK Toheeb-Lawal claimed first during the 2022 meet. Doss was event's runner-up with a jump of 7.34 meters.

Collin Kao (Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community) won his first WIAC title on Friday night, winning the pole vault with 5.21 meters. He passed through 4.95 meters, cleared the bar at 5.00 and 5.05 meters and passed again until he hit his best height on the first attempt. Kao was competing against himself after second-place finisher Andrew Tumminaro from UW-La Crosse missed his three attempts at 5.05 meters.

Charlie Nolan (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community West) sits atop the heptathlon leaderboard through four events at 2,990 points. So far, he was won the 60-meter dash (7.02) and long jump (6.90m), placed second in the high jump (1.94m) and threw 11.50 meters for 11th in the shot put.
Christian Thompson (Milwaukee/Ronald Reagan), who won the high jump at 2.00 meters, is third with 2,909 points.
Matthew Ewens (New Berlin/New Berlin West) sits 10th (2,610 points) and
Vince Nienhuis (Sheboygan/Sheboygan North) 12th (2,557 points) after the first day of competition.

Doss,
Davian Willems (De Pere/West De Pere) and
Nolan Milas (Virgil, Ill./Burlington Central) will all race in Saturday's 60-meter dash final after claiming three of the eight qualifying spots through Friday's preliminary round. Doss broke the facility record with a heat-winning time of 6.67 seconds. Willems and Milas also won their heats in 6.77 and 6.79 seconds, respectively.

The Titans compete again Saturday (Feb. 28) in hopes of winning their seventh WIAC indoor title and the first since 2022.
