PLATTEVILLE, Wis.- Amelia Lehman (Oshkosh/Valley Christian) contributed to 20 of UW-Oshkosh's 28 points scored in the first day of the WIAC Indoor Track & Field Championship on Friday (Feb. 27). The 49th edition of the women's indoor championship is being hosted in the Williams Center by UW-Platteville.
The Titans currently sit in fourth place with their 28 points. UW-La Crosse leads with 146 points, UW-Eau Claire sits second with 34.25 and UW-Platteville third with 29.
In the first scored event of the day,
Amelia Lehman (Oshkosh/Valley Christian) won the mile run in a time of 4:58.75. The time is the fastest at the championship since Eau Claire's Lucy Ramquist ran a 4:57.40 in the 2015 meet.
Addie Baker (Delavan/Elkhorn Area) and
Maddy LaVoi (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny Centennial) picked up conference medals in the 400-meter dash. Baker placed fourth with a time of 57.77 seconds and LaVoi placed fifth and won her heat in 58.24 seconds.
Lehman doubled back as the anchor for the distance medley relay, as the squad won with a time of 12:11.57.
Emma Boegh (Berlin/Berlin) kicked off the relay as the 1,200-meter leg,
Megan Hoffman (Clayton/Clayton) ran the 400-meter leg,
Lehna Mitchell (Oshkosh/Oshkosh North) the 800-meter leg and Lehman closed with the mile run.
Maya Van Schyndel (Little Chute/Little Chute) and
Amaya Lafontant (West Bend/West Bend West) advanced to the final round of the 60-meter hurdles with qualifying times of 9.00 and 9.21 seconds, respectively.
The Titans compete in the rest of the events tomorrow, February 28, as they attempt to win the WIAC Championship.
