Froehlke Named Elite Scholar-Athlete Award Winner For NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship

Bridget Froehlke became the third Titan to earn UW-Oshkosh's fifth NCAA Elite Scholar Athlete award

SALEM, Va.- Bridget Froehlke (Wrightstown/Wrightstown), a senior guard at UW-Oshkosh, is the recipient of the Elite Scholar-Athlete award for the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.

Froehlke, majoring in physical education, currently carries a 3.98 GPA. Froehlke was presented with the award before Oshkosh's semifinal game against Denison University (Ohio) on Thursday (March 19) afternoon in Salem, Va.

Froehlke, a 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree, three-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member and six-time UW-Oshkosh Dean's List member, joins two former Titans in earning UW-Oshkosh's fifth award. John DeWitt took home the 2011 and 2012 men's cross country awards while Jordan Carpenter was named the men's outdoor track & field recipient in 2014 and the men's cross country recipient in 2015.

The Elite Scholar-Athlete award recognizes the true essence of student-athletes by honoring the individuals who have reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in their sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers. The Elite Scholar-Athlete award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

Eligible student-athletes for the Elite Scholar-Athlete Award are sophomores or above who have participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. They must be an active member of the team, traveling and a designated member of the squad size at the championship. The number of credits completed breaks all ties.
