MADISON, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's basketball, which has finished its season in the NCAA Division III Championship semifinal round in each of the last two campaigns and was the winner of the WIAC regular season championship in three consecutive years, was selected to win the league title again in 2026-27 by the WIAC head coaches and sports information directors on Friday (Oct. 30).
The Titans (28-4, 12-2 WIAC last season), opened last year with 19 wins in a row and finished the regular season with a 4-2 mark before defeating UW-River Falls to reach the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver's) championship game for the 11th tournament in the last 13 years.
Oshkosh enters the 2026-27 season ranked sixth in the
D3hoops.com preseason poll and fourth in the
Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III poll.
Oshkosh hosted a regional pod of the national tournament for the third-straight year, defeating Webster University (Mo.) and Wisconsin Lutheran University to earn the right to host the sectional rounds for the first time since 1994. With victories over Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) and the University of Chicago (Ill.), the Titans advanced to the national semifinal game for the fourth time in program history where they fell to eventual national champion Denison University (Ohio).
UW-La Crosse (21-10, 9-5), the 2026 WIAC Tournament champion, was selected second in the preseason poll, followed by UW-Whitewater (20-9, 8-6), UW-Platteville (18-9, 8-6), UW-River Falls (16-12, 8-6), UW-Eau Claire (13-12, 3-11), UW-Stevens Point (15-11, 4-10) and UW-Stout Polytechnic (13-12, 4-10).
La Crosse, Platteville and Whitewater all qualified for the national tournament along with the Titans while 2026-27 nonconference opponents Carroll University, Concordia College (Minn.) and Ripon College also competed in the tournament.
For the first time since 2013, UW-Oshkosh will be led by a new head coach in
Lindsay Bronson following Brad Fischer's departure for NCAA Division I University of Nebraska in the off-season. Fischer left Oshkosh as the winningest head coach in program history (315-80) and having led the Titans to five WIAC regular season championships, six WIAC Tournament titles and 11 trips to the Division III Championship.
Bronson came to Oshkosh from Carroll where she had served as the head coach of the Pioneers to a 134-114 record from 2017-26, including a 100-36 mark in the last five seasons.
Past All-WIAC selections that return to the court this season include 2026 WIAC Player of the Year
Paige Seckar (Oshkosh/Oshkosh West) and two-time All-WIAC First Team honoree
Sammi Beyer (Appleton/Appleton East). Seckar was named to the WBCA All-America First Team and the D3hoops.com All-America Second Team last winter while Beyer was tabbed for WBCA All-America Honorable Mention.
The All-Americans are the only two starters that Bronson brings back – the other three were lost to graduation as members of a large 8-player senior class in 2025-26. Eight additional letterwinners also return.
The Blugolds return one starter, the Eagles three, the Pioneers two, the Falcons three, the Pointers three, the Blue Devils two and the Warhawks four.
The Titans begin their season against Carroll on Saturday, Nov. 7 in the UW-Eau Claire Tip-Off Tournament and face Simpson College (Iowa) the next day.
Following four games between the Augustana College (Ill.) Hyatt Place Tournament and the UW-Platteville Marc Heidorf Memorial Classic on Nov. 13-14 and Nov. 20-21, respectively, Oshkosh will open its home scheduled against Buena Vista University (Iowa) at Kolf Sports Center on Dec. 2.
The Titans have additional nonconference matchups scheduled at Wheaton College (Ill.) on Dec. 12 and against Principia College (Ill.) at home on Dec. 20 before hosting Concordia College and Ripon at the Oshkosh Arena in the UW-Oshkosh BSN Winter Classic on Dec. 28-29.

The winner of the tournament will receive the WIAC's automatic bid to the Division III Championship, which begins with the regional rounds on March 5-6.
