DE PERE, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh men's track & field competed in the St. Norbert College Last Chance Meet on Monday (May 11) to kick off the final week of final qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship.
On the track,
Paul Proteau (Riverside, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) and
Zachary Dietsch (West St. Paul, Minn./Two Rivers) finished second and third in the 10,000-meter run. Proteau edged out Dietsch's personal record of 33:15.72 with a time of 33:15.56.
The Titans' 5,000-meter run crew swept the podium, led by
Owen Koele (Reeseville/Waterloo) in a 15:37.95 finish.
Luke Beeksma (Eau Claire/Eau Claire Memorial) was runner up in 16:32.51 and
Zac Watson (Waukesha/Waukesha South) placed third at 16:43.08 after running the 10,000-meter run. All three set personal records.
In the field,
Gavin Fritsch (Little Chute/Little Chute Career Pathways Academy) and
Bryce Hale (Appleton/Kimberly) earned medals in the hammer throw. Fritsch claimed silver with a 59.71-meter throw and Hale claimed bronze with 56.56 meters. Fritsch then proceeded to win the discus, throwing 52.74 meters.
Isaiah Baez-Isom (Lansing, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) dominated the shot put, throwing 16.74 meters for the win.
Kieran Maude (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) earned bronze in the event with a 15.92-meter throw.
Bryce Smith (De Pere/West De Pere) snagged third in the javelin, throwing 41.87 meters.
In the pole vault,
Chris St. Clair (West Allis/Nathan Hale) and
Ethan Stukenberg (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) grabbed the top two spots. St. Clair won with a 4.72-meter vault and Stukenberg was runner-up with a height of 4.42 meters.
The Titans earned the top four places in the long jump.
Caleb Wright (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) led the way with 6.89 meters,
Keith Cyracus (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) was second with 6.78 and
Cavan Dobberstein (Manawa/Fox Valley Lutheran) rounded out the podium with 6.75.
Max Milbrath (Durand, Ill./Durand) and
Ben Lissa (Silvis, Ill./United Township) made it on the podium in the triple jump. Milbrath won the event at 14.19 meters, and Lissa was third at 13.50.
The Titans return for two more last chance meets, competing at the Augustana College Midnight Twilight Qualifier on Wednesday and Thursday (May 13-14) and the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier on Thursday (May 14).
