LA CROSSE, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team placed second at the two-day WIAC Outdoor Championship (presented by Culver's), hosted by UW-La Crosse at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Titans scored 129 points at the 107th conference outdoor meet between Friday and Saturday (May 1-2).

UW-La Crosse won the meet with 335 points. UW-Eau Claire followed Oshkosh with 93 points and UW-Platteville rounded out the top-four teams with 73 points. UW-Whitewater took fifth with 66 points, UW-Stevens Point sixth with 54, UW-Stout seventh with 53 and UW-River Falls eighth with 16.

Trent Chadwick (Poynette/Poynette) got the first point for the Titans, finishing eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday with a personal best time of 9:16.74.

Collin Kao (Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community) won the first individual event for the Titans with a 5.20-meter height in the pole vault. The graduate transfer became the first athlete to sweep the pole vault titles in a single season since UW-Whitewater's Zach Jasinski won both editions of the event in 2019 and the first Titan to win both titles since 1997 UW-Oshkosh Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Joe "JD" Townsley swept finished his second-straight effort in 1970.

Gavin Fritsch (Little Chute/Little Chute Career Pathways Academy) added another event win for the Titans in the hammer throw. He threw 59.93 meters to win the event.
Kieran Maude (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) also scored in the hammer throw, placing fourth with a distance of 55.82 meters.

Joshua Rivers (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) took the third field event win for the Titans, leading a crew of four Titans to scoring in the long jump. Rivers' best jump of 7.94 meters set the facility record and secured him his third outdoor long jump in a row. He now owns six long jump league titles between the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Also scoring in the long jump was
Dylan Doss (Sterling, Ill./Sterling),
Christian Wallace (Kenosha/Indian Trail) and
Cameron McAndrews (West Bend/West Bend West). Doss placed fourth at 7.19 meters, Wallace placed sixth at 7.00 meters and McAndrews placed seventh with at 6.94 meters. Wallace and McAndrews both set personal bests.

Two decathletes scored points and set personal records for the Titans.
Bryce Smith (De Pere/West De Pere) was the runner-up, scoring 6,757 points and
Cavan Dobberstein (Manawa/Fox Valley Lutheran) was fourth, scoring 6,601 points. Smith won the 400-meter dash (49.61) and 110-meter hurdles (15.19).

Davian Willems (De Pere/West De Pere), Doss,
Londyn Little (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) and
Nolan Milas (Virgil, Ill./Burlington Central) won the 4x100 meter relay. The Titans set the new meet record at 39.78 seconds and became the fifth Titan 4x100 crew to win the event in the last five meets.

Xavier Lasee (North Fond du Lac/Horace Mann) picked up his first individual conference medal, placing eighth in the 1,500-meter run with a personal record time of 3:57.37.

Doss collected the win in the 100-meter dash by running a personal record time of 10.21 seconds.
Eddie Jones (Waukesha/Catholic Memorial) added an eighth-place finish in the event with an 11.23-second time.

Lucas Nicholson (Pewaukee/Pewaukee) finished fourth in the 800-meter run, completing the two-lap event in a time of 1:52.47.

Brandon Marks (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) finished the final round of the 400-meter hurdles in 54.33 seconds, good for eighth place and a personal best.

Doss and Milas came back for the 200-meter dash, and both claimed podium spots. Doss finished second with a time of 21.17 and Milas finished third in 21.52 seconds.

Cameron Cullen (Kewaunee/Kewaunee) scored the final individual points on the track for the Titans, completing the 5,000-meter run sixth in 14:40.08.

In the field,
Gavin Fritsch (Little Chute/Little Chute Career Pathways Academy) and
Cameron Bendixen (DeForest/DeForest) scored in the discus throw. Fritsch threw a personal best 53.10 meters for fourth place and Bendixen threw 47.96 meters for eighth place.

Matthew Ewens (New Berlin/New Berlin West) and Josiah Hibbler tied for sixth in the high jump, both jumping 1.92 meters.

Maude and Isaiah Isom both placed in the shot put. Maude picked up a bronze medal with a throw of 16.32 meters and Isom threw 15.80 meters for eighth.

In the final event of the day, the Titans 4x400-meter relay team placed second.
Sean Malay (Denmark/Denmark),
Tyran Bender (Bradley, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais Community)s, Rivers and Nicholson completed the event in 3:13.95.

The Titans will look to qualify additional athletes for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship next Friday (May 8) at the UW-La Crosse Uncaged Eagle Open.
