LA CROSSE, Wis.- Bryce Smith (De Pere/West De Pere) earned a podium finish in the decathlon on Friday (May 22) and UW-Oshkosh men's track & field will be represented three times in final rounds on Saturday (May 23) after strong preliminary round performances in the second day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship in La Crosse.

UW-La Crosse vaulted to first place in the team standings with 36 points by the end of the day's events. Central College (Iowa) followed Oshkosh with 22 points for third place and Rowan University (N.J.) sits fourth with 21.

The decathlon finished its second day of competition on Friday.
Bryce Smith (De Pere/West De Pere), who finish seventh in the heptathlon during this winter's indoor championship, collected eighth place with a personal best 6,771 points. He set personal records in the shot put (11.45m), the 400-meter dash (49.19), the discus (40.39m) and 1,500-meter run (4:35.34).

Cavan Dobberstein (Manawa/Fox Valley Lutheran) also competed in the decathlon, taking 19th place with 5,506 points. He did not record a height in the pole vault and did not finish the 1,500-meter run.

Isaiah Baez-Isom (Lansing, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) placed 16th in the shot put with a best cast of 16.35 meters.

The Titans' record-breaking 4x100-meter relay squad of
Davian Willems (De Pere/West De Pere),
Dylan Doss (Sterling, Ill./Sterling),
Londyn Little (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) and
Nolan Milas (Virgil, Ill./Burlington Central) set the championship record at 39.50 seconds a week after setting the Division III and facility record (38.96) on the same track during the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier on May 13. Oshkosh will race in the final round of the event at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Lucas Nicholson (Pewaukee/Pewaukee) raced in the preliminary round of the 800-meter run and finished his season with a 14th-place time of 1:51.45.

Willems and Doss returned to the track for the 100-meter dash preliminaries. Willems won his heat in 10.34 seconds, Doss won his in 10.40, and the duo is set for Saturday's 2:40 p.m. final.

Oshkosh will compete in five events on Saturday as it looks to secure its second trophy finish in three outdoor meets.
