Titans Compete At Uncaged Eagle Open

Collin Kao won the pole vault title in La Crosse at 5.21 meters

LA CROSSE, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh men's track & field competed in its first of two weeks' worth of last chance meets Friday (May 8), traveling to the site of the upcoming NCAA Division III Championship for the UW-La Crosse Uncaged Eagle Open.
 
Lucas Koerselman (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley) and Matthew Eiden (Stevens Point/SPASH) started the Titans off strong in La Crosse. The pair finished sixth and seventh in the 400-meter run with respective personal record times of 48.44 and 48.46.
 
Lucas Nicholson (Pewaukee/Pewaukee) captured the first medal for the Titans, running a personal record in the 800-meter run. He finished third with a time of 1:50.38.
 
Dylan Doss (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) and Nolan Milas (Virgil, Ill./Burlington Central) then claimed the top two spots in the 200-meter dash. Doss won in 20.82 seconds and Milas was runner-up with 21.05. Eddie Jones (Waukesha/Catholic Memorial) snagged eighth place, running a 21.83.
 
Trent Chadwick (Poynette/Poynette) secured eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, completing the event in 9:16.76.
 
In the field, Matthew Ewens (New Berlin/New Berlin West) got the Titans started with a 2.02-meter height in the high jump. His personal-record jump was good for second place.
 
Collin Kao (Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community) continued the string of medals with a win the pole vault, clearing 5.21 meters.
 
Doss came back and claimed a bronze medal in the long jump with a distance of 7.09 meters.
 
Gavin Fritsch (Little Chute/Little Chute Career Pathways Academy) earned gold in the discus, throwing 52.63 meters. Fritsch also claimed silver in the hammer throw, throwing 60.23 meters. Kieran Maude (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) grabbed an eighth place finish with a 55.43-meter throw.
 
The Titans grabbed three top eight spots in the shot put, courtesy of Isaiah Isom, Cameron Bendixen (DeForest/DeForest) and Maude. Isom threw 16.53 meters for sixth place, Bendixen threw a personal best 16.51 meters for seventh and Maude threw 16.32 meters for eighth.
 
Additionally, Cameron Cullen (Kewaunee/Kewaunee) ran the 5,000-meter run at the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Chance Invitational. He completed the event in 14:43.11 to finish fourth.
 
The Titans end their regular season next week, racing at the St. Norbert College Last Chance Meet on Monday (May 11) and the Augustana College (Ill.) Midnight Twilight Qualifier on Wednesday and Thursday (May 13-14).
