OSHKOSH, Wis.- UW-Whitewater held UW-Oshkosh women's tennis scoreless at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Tennis Courts on Tuesday (Sept. 15).
Olivia Pethan (Oshkosh/Fox Valley Lutheran) and
Brianna Owens (Appleton/Kimberly) played the closest doubles match, losing 6-3 to Abigail Weaver and Ava Andrae at the No. 1 flight. Dropping 6-2 tallies in both flights,
Kayla Gibbs (Muskego/Muskego) and
Sarah Schaeffer (Rock Springs/Reedsburg) played the second flight and
Jameson Gregory (Delavan/Big Foot) and
Peyton Peterson (Sheboygan Falls/Sheboygan Falls) played the third.
While all six Titans took at least a game in the singles matches,
Taylor Longdin (Slinger/Slinger) played the closest match at No. 6. She won the first set by a 6-1 tally and pushed the second set to extra points, 7-5, forcing the tiebreaker. Her opponent Ella Alcalde won the deciding third set, 10-4.
At No. 4 singles, Schaeffer lost 6-1, 7-5. Pethan dropped the top flight by a 6-3, 6-1, score while
Sophie Gish (West Bend/West Bend West) reversed the set scores in her fifth flight loss. Gibbs lost, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 and
Brianna Owens (Appleton/Kimberly) was defeated, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2.
The Titans head to De Pere on Friday to take on St. Norbert College (2-0, 2-0 NACC) at the Green Bay Tennis Center. Oshkosh is currently on an 8-match winning streak over the Green Knights and holds a 34-9 lead in the all-time series.
