OSHKOSH, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's soccer extended its unbeaten streak to four matches on Wednesday (Sept. 23), tying Carthage College, 1-1, at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
The teams tied for the third consecutive meeting and the fourth time in the nine-match series.
Carthage (2-2-4) scored the first goal in the 64th minute and Oshkosh (4-2-1) answered with the equalizer three minutes later.
Across 90 minutes, the Titans outshot the Firebirds, 17-10, and tallied eight shots on goal to the visitors' six. They also held an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.
Addie Wreath (Appleton/Appleton East) led the Titan offense with four total shots (two on goal).
Ella Duckmann (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove), who scored Oshkosh's goal, was next with three shots (two on goal) and
Hannah Huntley (Hudson/Hudson) put both of her attempts on goal.
Larissa Likes (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) posted another clean first half, extending her run to four matches with two saves.
Jamaya Mariner (Green Bay/Green Bay East) took over in the second half and added three saves but allowed the Firebirds' goal.
Oshkosh took the match's first shot on goal in the 23rd minute when
Jaden LeRoy (Evansville/Evansville) put an attempt on the center of the goal. The Titans added one more shot on goal before the end of the period while the Firebirds recorded two. Neither team found the back of the net and the score remained at zeros after 45 minutes.
The Titans opened the second half with the first shot on goal in the 49th minute off Wreath's foot and she attempted another shot on goal in the 57th, however Carthage tallied its goal when Peyton Olinski scored at 63:50.
A corner kick by
Greta Steines (Eau Claire/Eau Claire Memorial) midway through the 66th minute landed right in front of the Firebirds' goal and Duckmann kicked a deflection into the back of the net to knot the score at 1-1.
The Titans added shots on goal by Huntley in the 71st and 75th minutes and by
Laney Wiebel (Oshkosh/Oshkosh West) in the 78th minute. Carthage tried to score twice more in the 84th and 90th minutes and Mariner snagged both, keeping the score tied.
The Titans wrap up their seven-home match September on Saturday (Sept. 26), hosting Loras College (Iowa) (6-0) at 2 p.m.
