OSHKOSH, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's tennis started its 2026-27 campaign on Friday (Sep. 4), dropping a 7-0 decision to UW-La Crosse at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Tennis Courts.
In doubles competition,
Jameson Gregory (Delavan/Big Foot) and
Kayla Gibbs (Muskego/Muskego) were shutout 6-0 by Shelby Roth and Hannah Cady in the top flight.
Sarah Schaeffer (Rock Springs/Reedsburg) and
Peyton Peterson (Sheboygan Falls/Sheboygan Falls) dropped their No. 2 doubles matchup to Lauren Lindow and Maia Samuelson by the same 6-0 score.
Olivia Pethan (Oshkosh/Fox Valley Lutheran) and
Brianna Owens (Appleton/Kimberly) scored the lone point for the Titans in doubles play in the No. 3 flight but fell ,6-1, to Lily Jorgenson and Caitlyn Stadler.
No. 1 singles action saw Pethan fall to Roth, 6-0, 6-4, while Gibbs was defeated by Lindow, 6-0, 6-1, in the second flight.
Owens was one of two Titans to manage points in both sets of their singles match, but ultimately fell to Jorgenson, 6-2, 6-1, in No. 3 singles.
Taylor Longdin (Slinger/Slinger) also accomplished the same feat in her, 6-3, 6-3, loss to Morgan Perkins during the sixth flight.
In her first singles match as a Titan,
Sophie Gish (West Bend/West Bend West) was held scoreless, 6-0, 6-0, by Stadler in the fifth flight.
The Titans now head on the road to UW-Whitewater on Saturday (Sept. 5), where the team will compete in the annual UW-Whitewater Warhawk Invitational. First serve at the Warhawk Outdoor Tennis Complex is set for 9 a.m.
