UW-Oshkosh clinched second place in the WIAC standings and a first-round bye in next week's league tournament following its 3-0 women's soccer victory over UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday (Oct. 29) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The Titans (10-6-1, 6-1 WIAC) had three different goal scorers, including Megan White who put UW-Oshkosh ahead with her 10-yard kick during the 38th minute (37:17) of play. Delivering the cross for White's second goal of the season was Rachel Elliott.

White assisted on UW-Oshkosh's second goal, a 10-yard boot by Kali Jahn during the 58th minute (57:29). The goal was Jahn's third of the year.  

Robyn Elliott added the Titans' third score on an 18-yard kick that went over the outstretched arms of UW-Stevens Point goalkeeper Kristen Churkey during the 70th minute (69:21). A pass from Nicole Palmquist created Elliott's sixth goal of the season.

Amanda Baalke didn't factor in the scoring, but she did help UW-Oshkosh compile a 22-13 advantage in shots. Baalke launched a match-best four shots, while sisters Rachel and Robyn Elliott fired three each. The Titans had four players attempt two shots, including Jahn and White.

UW-Stevens Point (7-9-1, 2-4-1 WIAC), which suffered its fourth straight loss to UW-Oshkosh, was led by the two shots each from Emily Detrich, Kim Gietman and Jillian Ross.

The Titans earned four of the game's five corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nina Muzi saved seven shots, including four in the first half, to lower her goals against average on the season to 0.60. Angela Christensen didn't face a shot while guarding the UW-Oshkosh goal for the final 3:33 of play.

The shutout was the Titans' 10th of the season. UW-Oshkosh has allowed just one goal during its seven WIAC contests, a score by UW-Whitewater in a 1-0 loss on Oct. 15.

Churkey saved seven shots for the Pointers, with six of them coming in the second half. UW-Stevens Point also had one team save.

UW-Oshkosh's second-place WIAC finish is its second in as many seasons. The Titans also finished second in 2001, 2005 and 2006.

Following Saturday's (Nov. 1) regular-season finale at UW-Platteville, UW-Oshkosh will host a semifinal round match of the WIAC Tournament on Nov. 6 at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
