Box Score

UW-Oshkosh scored once in each half while holding an opponent scoreless for the sixth time in eight matches during its 2-0 women's soccer victory over previously unbeaten Carroll University Saturday (Sept. 18) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The Titans improved their season record to 7-1 with the win. UW-Oshkosh's record after eight matches is its best since going 6-0-2 to start the 2012 campaign.

UW-Oshkosh tallied its game-winning goal on Mackenzie Stein's 22-yard kick during the 43rd minute (42:23) of play. Her third goal of the season followed a pass from Greta Hanthorn.

The Titans then doubled their lead when Molly Jackson scored on an 18-yard boot during the contest's 56th minute (55:30). Mallory Knight delivered the pass that allowed Jackson to tally her second goal of the year and the 998th in the 28-year history of the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer program.

A total of 10 Titans attempted shots in the match, including Knight who launched four, Jackson who dispatched three and Hanthorn and Maddie Hill who both released two. UW-Oshkosh had seven shots on goal while earning four corner kicks.

Defensively, UW-Oshkosh held Carroll University to 10 shots, six shots on goal and three corner kicks. The Pioneers were led by the four shots from Elizabeth Weinberg and the three from Grace Tumilty. Weinberg entered the game with a team-leading seven goals on the season.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Erin Toomey recorded her fourth shutout of the season by stopping three Carroll University shots in each half.

Rachel Jenewein saved five UW-Oshkosh shots while guarding the Carroll University goal. Jenewein reached her save amount by blocking two UW-Oshkosh shots in the first half and three in the second.

UW-Oshkosh has virtually dominated its eight opponents this season, registering advantages of 28-2 in goals, 185-56 in shots, 104-25 in shots on goal and 54-13 in corner kicks.

The match between UW-Oshkosh and Carroll University was its sixth, but just the first since the 2011 season. The Titans now lead the all-time series by a 4-2 count.

Saturday's win also made UW-Oshkosh's Erin Coppernoll the third-winningest women's soccer coach in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference history. Coppernoll's 174 victories at UW-Oshkosh rank behind the 365 of retired UW-Stevens Point coach Sheila Miech and the 273 of current UW-Eau Claire coach Sean Yengo. Coppernoll has compiled a 174-123-32 coaching record during her 17 seasons at UW-Oshkosh and a 21-year record of 198-168-35 overall.

UW-Oshkosh begins a string of three straight road contests with Wednesday's (Sept. 22) match in Naperville, Ill., against North Central College (3-3-1).
