Masloroff Wins Hammer Throw In First Day Of WIAC Championship

PLATTEVILLE, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh finished the first day of the WIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship (Presented by Culver's) with an event win and two additional All-WIAC performances on Friday (May 3).

This year's edition of the WIAC Championship is hosted by UW-Platteville at its Track & Field Complex.

The Titans wrapped up day one with 26 points, good for fifth in the eight team field.

Brenna Masloroff (Sr. • Franklin) delivered an event win for UW-Oshkosh, hurling a personal best and seventh furthest mark in program history 58.34 meters in the hammer throw. It was the first outdoor league title of her career.

Megan Hunt (Jr. • Lemont, Ill.) jumped 5.75 meters in the long jump for second place and an All-WIAC Second Team mention. She moved up to fifth in UW-Oshkosh history on the event.

With a career best time for third place, Gracie Buchinger (So. • Kimberly) ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:02.68 on her way to her first All-WIAC honor and sixth on the UW-Oshkosh all-time honor roll.

WIAC/Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year for the indoor season Maddy LaVoi (Fr. • Ankeny, Iowa) will race in the final round of the 400-meter dash after finishing the preliminary round in second with a time of 57.02 seconds. Ella Ahlstrand (Fr. • Plymouth) advanced to the 100-meter dash final with a qualifying time of 12.38 seconds.

Cyna Madigan (Jr. • Rosendale), Libby Geisness (Sr. • Waukesha) and Olivia Stenzel (So. • Sturgeon Bay) all qualified for the final round of the 800-meter run after taking third, fourth and eighth in the preliminary round respectively.

In the heptathlon, Hunt sits sixth with 2,684 points after four events finished. She collected top-eight finishes in the 100-meter dash, high jump, shot put and 200-meter dash and will compete in the long jump, javelin throw, and 800-meter run on Saturday.

The Titans will return Saturday (May 4) for the second day of the WIAC Championship at 11 a.m.
