COLFAX, Wis.- Toeing the line against some of the best teams in the region, UW-Oshkosh women's cross country finished the varsity race of the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational in 14th place on Friday (Oct. 3).
 
UW-La Crosse won the meet with 117 points and Carleton College's (Minn.) Claire Vukovics won the individual title in 21:45.
 
The Titans had 10 athletes compete in the varsity race, which took place at 10:15 a.m. 
Emma Boegh (Berlin/Berlin) and 
Lehna Mitchell (Oshkosh/Oshkosh North) led the Titans, finishing 47th and 48th respectively. Both Titans ran 23:38s. 
Gwen Feitl (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) followed, running 23:59 for 73rd place. 
Allison VanDerWegen (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) was fourth for the Titans, running 24:31 for 117th place. The final point scorer for Oshkosh was 
Ashley Groothoff (Two Rivers/Two Rivers), who finished in 25:03 for 166th place.
 
Piper Johnson (Poynette/Poynette) was sixth for the Titans and finished in a time of 25:36. She finished 201st in the race. 
Josie Makurat (Fairfax, Va./Woodson) also ran the course in 25:36, finishing 203rd. The Titans' eighth runner, 
Amari Siegfried (Menomonee Falls/Brookfield East) ran a 26:25 for 238th. 
Ella Galaszewski (West Allis/Nathan Hale) finished in 261st with a time of 26:53 and 
Anabel Mitchell (Oshkosh/Oshkosh North) ran 28:48 for 305th.
 
In the hottest race of the day, the Titans had five runners in the open race, starting at 11:45 a.m.
 
Leah Modjeski (Sparta/Sparta) and 
Madeline Osmanski (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) led the Titans in 78th and 79th place, respectively. Modjeski ran a 28:43 and Osmanski ran a 28:46. 
Athena Soto (Whitewater/Whitewater) finished in 29:22, which was good for 87th place. 
Rylee Hucke (Johnson Creek/Johnson Creek) was Oshkosh's fourth runner, running 29:44 for 95th place and 
Annie Jesse (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) finished 108th in 31:18.
 
The Titans return on Saturday, October 11 as they make the short drive to Appleton for the Gene Davis Invitational, hosted by Lawrence University.
