ROCHESTER, NY.- The UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team collected an individual national championship, an additional All-America honor, and a program record in the first day of the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship held at the Golisano Training Center in Rochester, New York on Friday (March 14).
The Titans, who have 16 qualified student-athletes in eight events, sit second at the national meet with 18 points after day one. UW-La Crosse, the defending indoor national champion, leads the field with 25 points.
The Titans first day was highlighted by
Joshua Rivers' (Jr. • Bolingbrook, Ill.) second straight long jump title. The Division III record holder set both the meet and facility records by jumping 7.81 meters in his second attempt and comfortably held first place the rest of the way.
Gavin Fritsch (Jr. • Little Chute) claimed the silver medal in the weight throw with a personal best distance of 20.08 meters. The placement is the first All-America First Team honor for Fritsch, who placed third in the outdoor discus with the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 2023.
After day one of the heptathlon,
Cavan Dobberstein (So. • Manawa) sits in fourth place with 2,862 points.
Aden Sears (Sr. • Eureka, Ill.) is in 14th with 2,710 points. In addition to the heptathlon, Sears also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, where he finished in 20th place in 8.45 seconds. Also in the heptathlon,
Payton White (Fifth • Berrien Spring, Mich.) sits in 16th place with 2,677 points.
Londyn Little (Jr. • Columbia, Ill.) set the new school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.46 seconds, and advanced to Saturday's final round at 4:15 p.m. central time.
Along with Little,
Davian Willems (Jr. • De Pere) advanced to Saturday's final in the 60-meter dash at 2:25 p.m. central. Willems qualified in 6.73 seconds and Little qualified in 6.77 seconds.
Danny Vinson (Fifth • Berrien Spring, Mich.) and
Eddie Jones (Fr. • Waukesha) also competed in the 60 meter dash. Vinson finished 16th with 6.83 seconds, and Jones finished in 18th with 6.84 seconds.
In addition to Little competing in the 200-meter dash,
Nolan Milas (So. • Virgil, Ill.) placed 16th with 22.16 seconds.
Bryce Hale (So. • Kimberly) completed alongside Fritsch in the weight throw, throwing 17.33 meters to place 18th.
The Titans 4x400-meter relay team took ninth, finishing in a time of 3:17.62. The team consisted of
Matthew Eiden (So. • Stevens Point), Rivers,
Weston Lerdal (Sr. • Neenah), and Little.
In the final day of the indoor national championship on Saturday (March 15), the Titans will continue their quest for the second indoor national title in program history. UW-Oshkosh won its only indoor title in 2009. Along with Friday's final round qualifiers, the heptathlon will wrap up the final trio of events and
