Titans Win Seven Events At St. Norbert Invitational

DES MOINES, Iowa/DE PERE, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team competed at the Drake Relays and the St. Norbert College Invitational this week and won seven events in De Pere on Saturday (April 26).
 
At St. Norbert, Alex Arndt (Milwaukee/Saint Thomas More) (Fr. • Milwaukee) won the first event, the 5,000-meter run, with a personal record time of 15:36.92. Eli Traeder (Cottage Grove/Monona Grove) (Sr. • Cottage Grove) took second in 15:42.22, and Brady Lewis (Cedarburg/Cedarburg) (So. • Cedarburg) ran a 16:22.64 for seventh.
 
Aden Sears (Eureka, Ill./Eureka) (Sr. • Eureka, Ill.) won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.56 seconds, followed in second by Daniel Wilson (Sun Prairie/Sun Prairie West) (Fr. • Sun Prairie) with a personal best 14.65-second finish. Brady Larson (Maroa, Ill./Maroa-Forsyth) (Fr. • Maroa, Ill.) took fourth in 15.50 seconds, Matt Scholbe (Jr. • Muskego) fifth with a personal record 15.68 seconds, and Payton White (Berrien Springs, Mich./Berrien Springs) (Fifth • Berrien Springs, Mich.) sixth with a personal record 16.01 seconds.
 
Cameron Cullen (Kewaunee/Kewaunee) (Jr. • Kewaunee) took first in the 1,500-meter run in 3:59.15 as the first of three Titans to place in the top-eight in the event. Bennett Midthun (Fond du Lac/Winnebago Lutheran Academy) (Fr. • Fond du Lac) ran a 4:02.38 for fourth and Alex Peterson (Oconto Falls/Gillett) (So. • Oconto Falls) ran a 4:05.89 for seventh, both personal bests.
 
In the 400-meter dash, Tyran Bender (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais Community) (Fr. • Bourbonnais, Ill.) ran a 48.68-second time for first while Matthew Eiden (Stevens Point/SPASH) (So. • Stevens Point) took third in 49.21 seconds.
 
UW-Oshkosh claimed third through sixth in the 100-meter dash. Carter Amerson (Wausau/Wausau West) (Fr. • Wausau) clocked a 11.03, Ray Talbert (Waterloo, Iowa/Waterloo East) (Sr. • Waterloo, Iowa) ran a 11.04, Henry Kennedy (Carpentersville, Ill./Dundee-Crown) (So. • Carpentersville, Ill.) and Jaylin Boatman (Chicago, Ill./De La Salle Institute) (Sr. • Chicago, Ill.) submitted personal bests of 11.05 and 11.07.
 
Jett Breed (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) (So. • Oswego, Ill.) ran to seventh in the 800-meter run with a personal best of 1:56.69.
 
In the 400-meter hurdles, Wilson set a personal record of 54.47 seconds for first place and Weston Lerdal (Neenah/Neenah) (Sr. • Neenah) ran to second in 54.78 seconds.
 
Eiden led the Titans' contingent in the 200-meter dash with a third-place time of 22.45 seconds. Amerson finished fourth, Tray Janssen (De Pere/West De Pere) (Fr. • De Pere) fifth, Boatman sixth, and Kennedy seventh.
 
The 4x400-meter relay squad of Breed, Lucas Nicholson (Pewaukee/Pewaukee) (So. • Pewaukee), Colin Smith (Pardeeville/Pardeeville) (Fr. • Pardeeville), and Riley Szymik (Appleton/Appleton North) (Fr. • Appleton) grabbed second in 3:31.32.
 
Over to the field events, Kieran Maude (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) led off Oshkosh's top-eight finishes with a second-place mark of 15.37 meters. Isaiah Isom (Lansing, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) (Jr. • Lansing, Ill.) followed in third at 14.93 meters, Jack Wellhoefer (Omro/Omro) (Fr. • Omro) took fourth with a personal record 14.83 meters, and Jacob Fritsch (Little Chute/Little Chute) (Jr. • Little Chute) threw 13.82 meters for fifth.
 
Gavin Fritsch (Little Chute/Little Chute) (Jr. • Little Chute) claimed third in the discus throw at 47.70 meters and Maude set a personal best with a sixth-place distance of 45.80 meters.
 
Cameron McAndrews (West Bend/West Bend West) (Fr. • West Bend) and Christian Thompson (Milwaukee/Ronald Reagan) (Fr. • Milwaukee) took third in the high jump with best heights of 1.85 meters. Kendrick Cyracus (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) (Jr. • Plainfield, Ill.) vaulted 1.80 meters for seventh.
 
Zach Zirgibel (Merton/Arrowhead Union) (Sr. • Merton) cleared 4.33 meters in the pole vault, winning the event. Ethan Stukenberg (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) (So. • Edwardsville, Ill.) jumped 4.33 meters for fifth. Owen Kuhne (Madison/Madison Memorial) (Fr. • Madison) took sixth at 4.18 meters and Eathan Lund (Hortonville/Hortonville) (Fr. • Hortonville) took seventh at 4.03 meters.
 
With a personal record distance of 7.20 meters in the long jump, Cavan Dobberstein (Manawa/Fox Valley Lutheran) (So. • Manawa) took second. Sochim Ozoh (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmor) (Fr. • Homewood, Ill.) jumped 7.03 meters for third, White jumped 6.86 meters for fourth, and Scholbe jumped 6.51 meters for seventh.
 
In the triple jump, Max Milbrath (Pecatonica, Ill./Pecatonica) (Fr. • Pecatonica) skipped a best distance of 13.46 meters for fifth place, followed with a personal record mark of 13.43 meters for sixth by Thompson.
 
Gavin Fritsch (Little Chute/Little Chute) won the hammer throw with a best cast of 59.70 meters. Bryce Hale (Kimberly/Kimberly) (So. • Kimberly) threw a personal record 56.91 meters for third, Maude took fourth at 52.32 meters, and Steve Wauer (Jr. • Muskego) took fifth at 51.25 meters, a personal best.
 
In Des Moines, Iowa, the Titans had top-five finishes from the 4x100-meter relay squad (fourth, 40.49 seconds), Davian Willems (De Pere/West De Pere) in the 100-meter dash (fourth, 10.56 seconds), and Caleb Wright (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) (Jr. • Oswego, Ill.) in in the long jump (second, 7.28 meters).
 
The Titans will host the WIAC Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday (May 2-3) at the Oshkosh Sports Complex. They last hosted the outdoor conference meet in 2014.
