Masloroff Sets Meet Record In Hammer Throw At WIAC Championship

Brenna Masloroff won the hammer throw at the WIAC Championship on Friday and set the meet record in the process


OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team opened the 2025 WIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship (presented by Culver's) at the Oshkosh Sports Complex on Friday (May 2), the first conference meet held at the facility since 2014.
 
The Titans accumulated 25 points in the first day of competition including two event wins and sit in fourth place. UW-La Crosse is leading the eight-team championship with 89 points, followed by UW-Eau Claire with 49 and UW-Stout with 35.
 
UW-Oshkosh sent six runners to final rounds after they qualified through the preliminary rounds of two events.
 
Maddy LaVoi (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny Centennial) and Addie Baker (Delavan/Elkhorn Area) took sixth and seventh in the preliminary rounds of the 400-meter dash with times of 57.47 and 57.91 seconds respectively. They will compete in the final round on Saturday (May 3) at 3:45 p.m.
 
Oshkosh took the top two spots in the 800-meter run preliminaries and added sixth- and ninth-place finishes to qualify four runners for the final at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. Libby Geisness (Waukesha/Waukesha South) ran the fastest time of the first round at 2:14.32, followed by Cyna Madigan's (Rosendale/Laconia) 2:15.55. Olivia Stenzel (Sevastopol/Sevastopol) qualified with a 2:16.68 finish and Emma Boegh (Berlin/Berlin) claimed the final spot in the final at 2:19.54.
 
The last event scheduled on Friday was the women's 10,000-meter run and Jamie Catania (Fond du Lac/Horace Mann) ran to eighth place in 37:45.25.
 
In the hammer throw, Brenna Masloroff (Franklin/Franklin) threw a meet record distance of 59.34 meters for first place, her second consecutive outdoor conference win in the event. The mark was also a personal best by nearly three feet.
 
Megan Hunt (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) jumped to first place in the long jump with a mark of 5.83 meters on her first attempt.
 
Hunt is also sitting in first place in the heptathlon through the first four events with 2.924 points. She won the high jump and 200-meter dash and placed no lower than fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and shot put.
 
The Titans will return to the Oshkosh Sports Complex on Saturday (May 3) for the second day of the championship.
