REEDSBURG, Wis. - UW-Oshkosh women's golf competed in the opening round of the 31st WIAC Championship, Friday (Oct. 9) at the Reedsburg Country Club.
After a shotgun start on the first 18 holes, the Titans stand in seventh place, with 59-over par (347 strokes). UW-Whitewater leads the team standings with 20-over (308), while the Warhawks' Delainey Halverson leads individually at 2-over (74).
Addy Horne (Sheboygan Falls/Kohler) led the team in the opening round, finishing 11-over (83), and accruing 10 pars, six bogeys, a double bogey, and a triple bogey. Horne currently stands in a tie for 22nd place.
The lone birdie for the Titans came from Rylie Severson (Green Bay/Ashwaubenon) on hole one, as she finished Friday 14-over (86) for a 33rd place tie. In addition to the birdie, Severson collected six pars, seven bogeys, and four double bogeys.
As one of two Titans to finish the round in a tie for 47th place, Ava Fahrenholz (West Bend/Slinger) shot 17-over (89) in the opening round. Seven pars, seven bogeys, two double bogeys, and two triple bogeys were tallied onto Fahrenholz's scorecard during Friday's competition.
Also finishing in the tie for 47th place was Sophia Eggert (Shawano/Shawano Community). In Eggert's 17-over (89) opening round, she scored seven pars, eight bogeys, a double bogey, and a triple bogey.
Chloe Young (Waukesha/Bay Port) completed Friday's round in a 57th place tie. Young's scorecard consisted of five pars, seven bogeys, and six double bogeys to result in a 19-over (91) finish.
Competing individually in this year's championship is Aliza Koput (Tomah/Tomah), as she shot 19-over (91) to tie for 57th place. Koput recorded five pars, nine bogeys, two double bogeys, and two triple bogeys during the round.
Also competing as an individual is Ciara Clark (Mukwonago/Mukwonago), who finished on Friday in 72nd place. Clark posted two pars, 10 bogeys, two double bogeys, and two triple bogeys on the day to conclude the round 28-over (100).
The second round for the Titans begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 10), with the meet concluding on Sunday (Oct. 11). Oshkosh's start time on Sunday will be determined after the second round.
