TEMPE, Ariz.- UW-Oshkosh women's tennis earned all-academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Wednesday (July 16) while six student-athletes earned individual scholar-athlete honors.

Courtney Carpenter (Oshkosh/Oshkosh West) was named a scholar-athlete for the fourth year,
Kayla Gibbs (Muskego/Muskego) and
Olivia Pethan (Oshkosh/Fox Valley Lutheran) both collected the honor for the third time and
Cate Gerl (Joliet, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) and
Brianna Owens (Appleton/Kimberly) both earned their second award.
Taylor Longdin (Slinger/Slinger) was tabbed as a scholar-athlete for the first time.

Carpenter, a medical imaging major, went 9-8 in doubles competition alongside Pethan this season with a 6-5 mark in dual meets and a 2-0 record in the No. 2 flight.

A physical education major, Gibbs went 5-7 in singles play with a 5-2 record in the No. 3 flight. She also went 11-8 in doubles and paired most often with
Jameson Gregory (Delavan/Big Foot). The pair went 5-4.

Pethan went 5-2 in singles play (4-2 No. 1, 1-0 No. 2) and 10-9 in doubles play. Her most common doubles partner was Carpenter; however she also played a match each with
Sarah Schaeffer (Rock Springs/Reedsburg) and Bre Schultz. She is an accounting major.

Gerl, majoring in strength and conditioning, posted an 8-11 mark in singles play this season. While she was primarily a No. 5 flight player, her best record came in the No. 6 flight (4-1).

An accounting major, Owens played primarily at the No. 4 singles flight, going 5-1. Her overall singles mark was 7-7. In doubles, she went 5-3 overall with a 3-1 mark while partnered with Schaeffer.

Longdin, a special education major, posted a 0-1 singles record and won her only doubles match over Carroll University while paired with
Mana Usui (Franklin/Franklin).

This season, the Titans went 7-6 overall with a 2-4 record in the WIAC. They qualified for the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver's), falling to UW-Eau Claire.

Carpenter, Gibbs, Owens and Pethan each collected College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honors in May.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.

UW-Oshkosh's six award winners were among 1,309 tennis players recognized from NCAA Division III schools, including 56 others from the WIAC (10 from UW-Eau Claire, 12 from UW-La Crosse, eight from UW-River Falls, nine from UW-Stevens Point, eight from UW-Stout and nine from UW-Whitewater).

The Titans were one of 177 programs named All-Academic. UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout and UW-Whitewater were also on the list from the WIAC.

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form and all varsity letterwinners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
