OSHKOSH, Wis.- Hayden Hunt was named the UW-Oshkosh assistant cross country coach by interim head coach
Sylviann Momont on Wednesday (Aug. 26).
"I am excited to be adding Coach Hunt to the staff!" Said Momont. "His background and passion for building into a college coaching career made him stand out in the candidate pool. We are excited to welcome him to UWO and ready to start this next chapter together!"
Hunt, who will also assist the track & field programs, comes to Oshkosh from Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.), where he had served as an assistant cross country and track & field coach since 2024.
"I am very grateful for the opportunity to join the coaching staff and campus community at UW-Oshkosh," Hunt said. "Coach Momont and [head track & field coach Justin] Kinseth have been very welcoming already. I am looking forward to working with a great group of student-athletes and committed athletic administration."
While with the Tartans, Hunt helped guide the cross country programs to four top-25 finishes at the Division III Championships and four individuals to All-America honors. Carnegie Mellon won one regional crown while the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association awarded 25 All-Region honors to runners between 2024 and 2025.
On the track, Tartans collected four individual University Athletic Association titles and five Division III All-America medals.
A four-year student-athlete in the NCAA Division II Shippensburg University (Pa.) men's cross country and track & field teams, Hunt was a member of eight total Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships, won the indoor 5,000-meter run title in 2023 and the outdoor 10,000-meter title in 2024, earned 11 overall All-PSAC First Team awards and was named the league's cross country freshman of the year in 2021.
Hunt qualified for the Division II Cross Country Championship twice – 2021 and 2023.
Hunt graduated from Shippensburg in 2023 and 2024. He received his bachelor's degree in business management and master's degree in business administration. He also holds a level one certification with USA Track & Field.
