OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's cross country team hosted the WIAC Championship for the first time in a decade on Saturday (Nov. 1) at the newly opened XC Ranch on Oshkosh's north side. The Titans placed fifth at the meet with 123, tying with UW-Whitewater on points while the Warhawks took the tiebreaker.
 
UW-La Crosse took the team win with 24 points and Eagle Grant Matthai won in a time of 23:24.
 
Cameron Cullen (Kewaunee/Kewaunee) achieved his first career All-WIAC honor with a personal best time of 24:06, placing ninth for Second Team accolades. 
Paul Proteau (Riverside, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) also achieved his first All-WIAC honor, placing 15th in a career best 24:46 and earning Honorable Mention status.
 
Trent Chadwick (Poynette/Poynette) ran his first sub-25 minute race, finishing in 24:58 for 23rd place. 
Jason Skinkis (Seymour/Seymour) ran a 25:17, finishing in 38th. The final point scorer for the Titans was 
Alex Peterson (Oconto Falls/Gillett), who finished in 47th in a time of 25:25. All three runners set personal records.
 
Alex Arndt (Milwaukee/Saint Thomas More) was sixth for the Titans. He placed 55th in a new personal record of 25:32. 
Bennett Midthun (Fond du Lac/Winnebago Lutheran Academy) was the seventh runner for the Titans, and he also picked up a new personal record. He finished in 61st with a time of 25:42.
 
Lucas Nicholson (Pewaukee/Pewaukee) continued the streak of personal records, running 25:48 for 63rd place. 
Aaron Nehls (Fredonia/Ozaukee) was the ninth Titan to run a career best, finishing the course in 26:03 for 72nd place.
 
Joseph Hertel finished in 78th place, running 26:17. 
Alex Bernhardt (Appleton/Appleton North) ran 26:31, good for 85th place. 
Owen Bostwick (Whitefish Bay/Whitefish Bay) finished in 88th place, running a time of 26:38.
 
The Titans return on Thursday (Nov. 6) for the Ripon College Red Hawk Open in Green Lake. After that, the Titans head to Eau Claire for the NCAA Division III North Regional Championship, where they will look to qualify for the national meet as a team for the first time since 2021.
