MADISON, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team swept the WIAC Kwik Trip Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday (Oct. 6) following its performances from Sept. 28-Oct. 4. Taylor Longdin (Slinger/Slinger) earned the conference's singles honor, while Olivia Pethan (Oshkosh/Fox Valley Lutheran) and Brianna Owens (Appleton/Kimberly) were selected as the doubles honorees.
The sweep is the sixth by the Titans since the conference began recognizing separate singles and doubles athletes in 1988 and the program's first since 2024. That year, Pethan was named the singles Athlete of the Week and teamed with Alysa Pattee to earn the doubles honor.
Longdin, the league's singles athlete of the week, picked up a critical win at No. 6 singles to help UW-Oshkosh pick up its first conference win of the season at UW-Stout Polytechnic 4-3. She defeated Braenna Stampf, 6-3, 7-5, in No. 6 singles action.
Pethan and Owens helped UW-Oshkosh earn a big doubles point in the Titans narrow 4-3 victory over UW-Stout Polytechnic to pick up its first conference win of the season. Pethan and Owens defeated Prajna Hosamane and Gretchen Murphy, 6-1, in the top flight. The win was the Titans' fifth-straight against the Blue Devils dating back to the 2022-23 season.
Oshkosh continues WIAC play on Friday (Oct. 9) at 4 p.m. when the Titans travel to UW-Stevens Point to face the Pointers. In the last ten meetings between the two programs, Oshkosh holds a 6-4 advantage and has a 38-20 overall record against Stevens Point.
