Usui Wins Singles Point Against Pioneers

Mana Usui won No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-4 against Carroll

Box Score JACKSON, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's tennis started its spring season on Saturday (Feb. 28) with a dual against Carroll University at the Princeton Club in Jackson. The Pioneers defeated the Titans, 6-1.
 
Mana Usui (Franklin/Franklin) earned Oshkosh's (6-5) team point by defeating Natasa Pupovac, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 singles.
 
The Pioneers (7-6) took each of the following five singles matches. Sarah Schaeffer (Rock Springs/Reedsburg) sent the No. 4 flight to extra points with a second set score of 6-3, but dropped the extra set, 10-7.
 
Kayla Gibbs (Muskego/Muskego) and Brianna Owens (Appleton/Kimberly) kept the Titans from being swept in doubles competition with a 6-0 victory over Aaliyah Jacklin and Nawal Souki in the second flight.
 
The Titans will continue their spring season on Sunday, March 15 as they travel to Dubuque, Iowa to face the University of Dubuque on the Spartans' Frank Farber Tennis Courts at 1:30 p.m.
