Gerald "Dad" Braisher, who served 21 years as equipment manager for the Green Bay Packers, was a three-sport star at Oshkosh, earning ten varsity letters. He played quarterback on the Titans' 1920 state championship football team and was a member of the 1921 state championship basketball squad. Braisher served as basketball captain in 1922 and also earned a varsity letter in track.
Following his graduation from Oshkosh in 1922, Braisher served as a teacher and coach at De Pere High School for 33 years before joining the Packers. While at De Pere his football teams won four conference titles, while he directed four teams to the state basketball tournament and won the 1934 Class B crown. In baseball he led De Pere to seven consecutive championships between 1948 and 1954.
Braisher previously has received the Fox Cities Sports Award (1974), the Green Bay Elks Arnie Herber Award (1975) and the Green Bay Packer Retirement Award (1977). Now a resident of De Pere, Braisher also acted as assistant equipment manager during spring training for the Milwaukee Braves, California Angels and the Milwaukee Brewers.
