Leo Tilly, a 1934 UW-Oshkosh graduate, was an all-around athlete for the Titans, earning four letters in football and one in track. His senior year of athletics was culminated by his selection to the all-conference team in football. While in college, Tilly initiated an informal collegiate ice hockey league and reigned as heavyweight boxing champion on the UW-Oshkosh campus.

Upon graduation from UW-Oshkosh, Tilly moved to Aurora, Ill., where he taught industrial arts and coached football and track until 1944. Tilly received his master’s degree in education from Northwestern University (Ill.) and entered the private industry before retiring as Vice-President of Lyon Metal Products of Aurora.

Since 1962, Tilly, a 33rd Degree Mason of the Masonic Temple, has coordinated and helped sponsor free orthopedic examinations for crippled children. For the past 25 years he has been chairman of the Aurora Area Shrine Club Hospital Committee and provided the transportation for many of the over 400 needy children helped by the free clinics.

Today, Tilly lives in Aurora with his wife, Mildred.
