Hall of Fame
Shane Lohr was an All-American as both a student and an athlete while playing in the midfield during the most successful four-year stretch in UW-Oshkosh men’s soccer history from 2000-03.
Lohr, who helped the Titans to a remarkable 70-10-2 record and four NCAA Division III postseason appearances, earned All-America Third Team honors by the United Soccer Coaches in 2003 and All-Central Region accolades by the organization in both 2002 (Fourth Team) and 2003 (First Team). Lohr is one of only six players in UW-Oshkosh history to receive All-America honors by the USC.
Lohr and the Titans dominated their opposition, posting records of 20-2 in 2000, 16-3 in 2001, 13-4-2 in 2003 and 21-1 in 2003. The Titans advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Championship in 2000 and 2003 and to the national tournament’s second round in 2001 and 2002.
Lohr started 77 of the 81 matches that he played in, totaling eight goals and 30 assists for 46 points. He scored two goals during the Titans’ 5-0 victory over Edgewood University in 2003 and tallied both one goal and one assist during UW-Oshkosh wins over Northland University in 2001, Lawrence University in 2002 and Macalester University (Minn.) in 2003.
During his freshman season in 2000, Lohr compiled one goal and six assists as the Titans advanced to the national semifinals for the second time in program history. UW-Oshkosh’s NCAA postseason run featured wins over second-ranked Trinity University (Texas) and 17th-ranked Christopher Newport University (Va.), with the latter including a pair of assists from Lohr. UW-Oshkosh’s 2000 season ended with a 2-0 loss during the national semifinals held in Glassboro, N.J.
Lohr counted two goals and 12 assists in 2001 and then totaled one and four assists in 2002.
The 2003 season is considered the best in UW-Oshkosh men’s soccer history as the Titans won their first 21 matches before suffering a 3-2 double-overtime loss to unbeaten and eventual NCAA champion Trinity University in the national semifinals. After steamrolling through the regular season with 18 straight wins by a combined 50-5 score, Lohr and the Titans recorded consecutive home shutouts over Hope College (Mich.), Wheaton College (Ill.) and Dominican University (Ill.) in the NCAA postseason to book their trip to the Final Four in Madison, N.J.
Lohr compiled four goals and eight assists in 2003 as the Titans finished fourth nationally in goals against average (0.36) while recording 16 shutouts and yielding just eight goals.
In the classroom, Lohr received Division III Scholar All-America Second Team accolades by the USC in 2003.
Lohr, a New Berlin West High School graduate, was among 14 Titans selected to the 20-member WIAC Men’s Soccer All-Centennial Team in 2012.
Lohr graduated from UW-Oshkosh as a geology major in 2003.
Following a four-year term with the United States Forest Service as a fisheries technician, Lohr has been an owner/operator as a commercial diver and fisherman in Alaska since 2009.
Lohr and his wife, Ashley, reside in Petersburg, Alaska. They are the parents of daughter, Rosie, and son, Finn.
